Savory Broiled Tofu

So far, I’m really enjoying this cookbook. This was a great tofu dish, and it was super simple to put together. I think next time, I’ll try pan-frying it though, because I like the texture of tofu better that way. This was sweet and slightly salty, and the cubes were the perfect size for my toddler to enjoy. I threw a couple mini bell peppers onto the baking sheet with the tofu, and turned them each time I stirred the tofu, and it was the perfect accompaniment. I served this with Asian Greens with Garlic, Ginger + Fish Sauce and some leftover quinoa. It was a great meal!

Savory Broiled Tofu

Serves 4

Protein-Packed

1/4 cup soy sauce*
2 tablespoons raw honey
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
2 small garlic cloves, finely minced
A 14-ounce box firm tofu, drained and cut into 1/2-inch cubes

Set your oven rack up close to your broiler and preheat the broiler to high.

Whisk together the soy sauce, honey, oils, and garlic in a mixing bowl. Add the tofu to the bowl and gently stir to coat it with the mixture. Transfer the tofu to a baking sheet and pour over it whatever liquid remains in the bowl. Broil, stirring now and then, until the tofu is browned and has a few crispy edges, just 4 to 5 minutes total, depending on the heat of your broiler.

    I’ve heard really good things about this cookbook and am always surprised…but maybe it’s something I need to get my hands on…
