When we grilled a whole chicken a few days ago, I asked Dino to throw on a pack of hot dogs at the end to save for dinner the following evening. I wanted to try out one of the ideas from an awesome column on fun, healthy hot dog toppers that add less than 100 calories from the newest issue of Cooking Light. Continue Reading →

It had been a while since I made falafel at home, and when Stonefire sent me some pita and flatbread to sample, I figured it was high time to get back to falafel-ing.

I’ve revised the recipe a bit, since I do things a little differently from the original recipe. In doing so, I noticed that Just Braise is no longer online! I’m not sure what happened, but I want to make sure that the author knows that this recipe helped me find my love for falafel! So much so, that I can’t order it out anywhere, because it’s just not as good. Continue Reading →

When I saw this recipe for making wings in the slow cooker, I was intrigued. Especially since it has been so hot outside – I’m looking to minimize oven use any way I can lately. These were pretty easy to put together, but you need to be around to turn them a few times while they cook. Continue Reading →

I’m a big fan of peanut sauce, and also a big fan of Sriracha. And I’m always up for finding new ways to cook with tofu. So when I saw this tofu recipe over at Kalyn’s Kitchen, I knew I had to try it out. I really like her posts, and this one was no exception. This recipe comes together pretty quickly, and the sauce is really flavorful! Continue Reading →

I’ve used cauliflower to make gluten-free pizza before, and it was fantastic. But when I saw this post from Ashley (who has an awesome name! Ha!) over at Quarter Life (Crisis) Cuisine for cauliflower as a low carb/paleo friendly way to make fried rice, I was intrigued. I had one pack of bacon left from the three that I picked up at the wholesale club for my Father’s Day bacon-palooza, so I figured now would be a good time to try this recipe out. Continue Reading →

Dino wanted to make a spicy snack, so he made some popcorn and sprinkled chipotle chili powder on top, and then drizzled a healthy dose of Sriracha over it. He tossed it together, and we had a super spicy snack to eat while playing cards. It was maybe a little too spicy, but a fun experiment nonetheless. Continue Reading →
