Deviled Fried Chicken

Deviled Fried Chicken

I had a plan, and that plan was to make some killer fried chicken for my husband for dinner. He looooooves chicken, especially fried, but I was always too much of a wimp to deep fry it at home.

Well, that finally changed. And this recipe is knock-your-socks-off phenomenal. I can’t recommend it highly enough! Continue Reading →

Pork Fried "Rice"

Pork Fried “Rice”

I’ve used cauliflower to make gluten-free pizza before, and it was fantastic. But when I saw this post from Ashley (who has an awesome name! Ha!) over at Quarter Life (Crisis) Cuisine for cauliflower as a low carb/paleo friendly way to make fried rice, I was intrigued. I had one pack of bacon left from the three that I picked up at the wholesale club for my Father’s Day bacon-palooza, so I figured now would be a good time to try this recipe out. Continue Reading →

Fried Squash Blossoms

We got some zucchini blossoms from the Farmers’ Market, and wanted to do something simple with them that didn’t involve stuffing them. I found this recipe, and Dino prepped and cooked it. These turn out nice and crispy, and make a nice side dish. He added some grated Parmesan, which … Continue Reading →

Jamaican Beef Dumplings

I picked up these dumpling presses at an Asian market a few years ago, and I never used them until today. I always see square wonton wrappers, but I hadn’t come across round dumpling wrappers until Sunday afternoon. I was so excited to try it out, but I didn’t want … Continue Reading →

Pork Fried Rice

I had some rice and a few pork chops leftover from when I made pizziaola, so I decided to try to make some pork fried rice. I cut the pork chops into cubes and seasoned them with salt, pepper and Chinese five spice. I stir-fried them in a large nonstick … Continue Reading →

Quick Pan-Fried Tofu with Garlic & Wine Seasoning

I had to make a quick dinner tonight, so I cut up a block of tofu, patted it dry, sprinkled one side with some of The Melting Pot’s garlic & wine seasoning, dredged the tofu in flour and then egg wash, and pan-fried until golden on both sides. I squeezed some fresh lemon on top and dinner was ready! I served it with some leftover rice, black beans and corn. It was a nice, quick & easy meal. Continue Reading →

Chicken Fried Steak, with Cream Gravy

This is the second recipe I’ve tried for chicken fried steak. So far both have been awesome! I don’t think I got the oil quite hot enough this time, so it wasn’t as crispy as I’d like it to be. And I tried to make it look a little prettier by putting some chives on it, but…well… it wasn’t pretty. But it tasted great! Continue Reading →

Dino made zeppole with the rest of the pizza dough from our cousin’s pizzeria. They turned out awesome! He deep fried pieces of dough, and then dusted them with powdered sugar. What’s better than fried dough and sugar? Well… I suppose bacon could be worked in there somehow 😉 Continue Reading →

Chicken-Fried Steak with Gravy

Dino loves chicken fried steak, so I decided to try out this recipe. I broke out the cast iron skillet for this one, because really…how can you make chicken fried anything without a cast iron skillet? So it turned out really well! I’m thinking about pounding the steak with a … Continue Reading →
