I made a quick trip to the Farmers Market after yoga today, and I picked up lots of goodies from Mead Orchards – 2 big bunches of kale, a head of yellow cauliflower, a butternut squash, an acorn squash, 2 delicata squash and a pint of cherry tomatoes. When I came across fresh okra at the Farmers Market last weekend, I just had to buy it. I’ve eaten okra before, but never cooked it. I’ve seen lots of okra disasters on TV cooking shows, where it turns into a slimy mess, so I did a little research online to see if I could find a method of cooking that would be less… gross. The Croton Farmers Market switched things up this year, and now takes place every Sunday instead of Wednesday. I usually go to the Ossining market on Saturdays, but I was too busy this week, so I stopped by Croton today. There weren’t many vendors there today, but I managed to pick up quite a few goodies! I got a lot of goodies at the Ossining Farmers Market this weekend. I got some almond butter and Honduran dark roast coffee from Tierra Farm, a gorgeous baguette from Bread Alone, 3 pounds of ground beef and a pack of chorizo from The Pastures Farm, some onions, shallots, bok choy, cilantro and purple scallions. We had some friends over for dinner, and we figured it was a great time to fire up the grill! I picked up some beautiful grass-fed ground beef from the Farmers’ Market on Saturday, and we made the tastiest burgers ever!
