Have you heard of Bulletproof Coffee? My friend (and partner in crime over at The Domestic Mixologist) Mara has been drinking a lot of it lately. When she raved about this butter-and-coconut-oil-infused pick-me-up, I knew needed to have it in my life! Continue Reading →

My favorite hot cocoa mix recipe is one that I got from my 6th grade US History teacher. It’s soooo good, but it makes a ton, and has some ingredients that I don’t necessarily like to use anymore.

So I went on a mission to find a new one that I could make, in smaller batches, to help combat this nasty, cold weather we’ve been having. Continue Reading →

It has been way too long since I’ve made a smoothie. I blame the horrid winter weather we’ve been having for the last few months. I mean, there are only so many “polar vortices” that one can take before willing warmer weather to come back to the East Coast in the form of cold, blended beverages. Rum optional. When I first moved to New York (almost 10 years ago now!), I got hooked on diner food. Especially during the wee hours of the morning after a long night of bar-hopping, concert going, and all of the other fun things that recent college grads do. Continue Reading →

After a morning yoga session and trip to the Farmers Market, I decided that I was overdo for a kale-filled smoothie. This one really hit the spot – the mango and banana made it perfectly sweet without any additional honey/sugar/agave, and the chia seeds give this green beauty a big boost of omega-3, antioxidants, fiber and vitamins. We haven’t made as much fresh juice as we usually do this summer, so we decided to raid the fridge and put something together. I had plans for the greens from a bunch of beets, but didn’t know what I was going to do with the actual beets yet, so we used that as the base. This juice is jam-packed with nutrients, and is bursting with freshness. Continue Reading →

In an attempt to make a few smoothies that aren’t full of kale and avocados, I put this one together today. After a really long day yesterday, I decided that a nice chunk of ginger would give me a good kick. So I raided the fridge and put this smoothie together. Since I wasn’t using avocado, I threw in some raw cashews for a bit of protein, and to bulk it up a bit. Continue Reading →

It’s been a while since I made myself a smoothie, so I picked up a bunch of kale from the store and decided to make a smoothie with some of the fruit that I had on hand. For some reason, I feel compelled to add kale to 99% of my smoothies. It’s a really great way to bulk them up and add some wonderful nutrients. This one was nice and refreshing, and my toddler seriously loved it, too. Bonus! Continue Reading →
