Dino made a really interesting celery dish for the Passover themed dinner. I’m not usually that into celery, but this gives it really great flavor. And it’s a great way to use up celery if you have extra in the fridge. I often buy celery and only end up using a couple of stalks, and then feel guilty for wasting the rest. Now, I’ll just make this with the leftovers instead! Continue Reading →

Dino decided to take on 2 variations of Persian rice for our Supper Club. We used the basic recipe below, and then for the Dill & Lima Bean Rice added a drained can of lima beans, and a lot of dried dill. For the Sour Cherry Rice, we drained a can of sour cherries and mixed those in. We used a suggestion from Jaden’s Steamy Kitchen and reduced the juice with 1 cup of sugar until it was a thick syrup. Drizzle that over the rice at the end. Continue Reading →

This recipe has been tempting me over on the CLBB for a while now, and I finally made them today. I had all of the ingredients on hand. This is a great snack – and really different. The spice combination is great, and the brown sugar really balances the heat from the cayenne. Continue Reading →

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, I decided to make a couple “take-out” dishes. I decided to try my hand at making egg rolls, and they turned out fantastic! They were really easy to put together (they just look like they’d be complicated to make!) and they were delicious! I … Continue Reading →

This month’s Supper Club theme was Jamie Oliver recipes. I saw him make this on Jamie at Home, but the recipe wasn’t on Food Network’s website. Someone over at the CLBB happened to take notes of how he made it on the show, so I followed her instructions, and voila! … Continue Reading →

I made some herbed garlic bread to go with leftover Tomato Beef Pasta. I also made a big salad with arugula, pears, red onion, fig balsamic, extra-virgin olive oil, fleur de sal and fresh cracked black pepper.

No-Fuss Sauerkraut

I made this slow-cooker recipe and it was OK. I thought that the slow cooker made the sauerkraut taste a little funky (Dino didn’t think it did) kind of in the same way that I think onions taste weird in there sometimes. The pork was good and very tender. It … Continue Reading →
